Play Time at Miss T's Barcade

Give me the choice between mundane bar conversation and vintage arcade games, and I am going to choose the conversation every single time. If I'm sober. Apparently the more beers I drink, the more likely I am to just zone everybody out and play Ms. Pacman and Paperboy for 3 hours, going through my entire Ziplock baggy of parking quarters in the process.

Located in Koreatown, Miss T's Barcade is... a dump. I'm not sure it can even be called a dive bar. The place is grungy, loud, and cash only (what a coincidence, I don't carry cash). And from what I heard, nights are hit or miss, too crowded or too empty.

That said...I really enjoyed myself. Counter-culture is such a clichéd term, but a bar atmosphere without the common agendas is a nice change-up. And, as I alluded to, alcohol makes old video games a fucking riot. People go there to have fun, and it shows.

I highly recommend asking around and finding one of the bar's originals, they have some amazing stories. The Barcade was originally a once-a-week gathering run out of an apartment. Since getting its own location, it's had its up and downs but seems to be going pretty strong.

A quick note about the drink selection....there is no drink selection. Be prepared to choose between cheap beer, cheap wine, and cheap sake. There's a kitchen and good food, but I heard a few complaints about the kitchen sometimes closing much earlier than the bar.

As long as you know what you are getting into, I highly recommend this place for a fun couple hours. Just be prepared to let your inner 11-year-old out.
