Jay-Z, Fashions Night Out, Donald Glaude - This Week in NYC

Summer is officially over and while we may be mourning the 95% humidity that defines those middle months of the year, we probably shouldn't. For the first time in months there is a breeze outside and that means it’s time to party. This week catch NERD on Govenors Island, Fashions Night Out, and the ATP festival just to name a few.

Wednesday September 9th

N.E.R.D. and Asher Roth @ Governors Island
Genre bending band N.E.R.D. is taking the stage at Govenors Island by storm. The band is famous by its gorgeous front man, Pharrell Williams and there is no stopping them. The producing skills and performance capacity is beyond what you’d expect from any other producer in the game. If the idea of a hip-rock show with a beautiful man singing to you (which means even more beautiful girls in the crowd) doesn’t get you there then maybe newcomer to the game Asher Roth will do it for you, he’s known for his wild songs about partying all night long. This mix ensures a night full of dancing and great music!

Thursday September 10th

Fashions Night Out
Unless you’ve been hiding under the empire state building the last week then you know fashions night out is coming and fast. Anna Wintour and the fashion industry has finally gotten what they’ve always wanted- the city, but only for one night. In the most fashionable parts of town stores will be open till 11, giving out free drinks, gift bags, discounts, and fashionable celebs- From Kate Moss to Kanye- will be roaming the streets. On top of all of that, 20% of all proceeds from that night go to the September 11th foundation. Truly Epic.

Friday September 11th

The Jay-Z Benefit Concert at Madison Sq. Garden
The show will not only be an amazing performance by one of hip-hops greatest but also it will benefit his hometown of New York. Set for NYC's Madison Square Garden, the concert will funnel 100 percent of its proceeds to the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, a non-profit that's already doled out $114 million to the families of first responders from the NYPD, NYFD, Port Authority Police, and emergency medical services who perished in the terrorist attacks.

DJ Donald Glaude @ Pacha
If concerts aren’t your bag this week then hit up Pacha for an epic set by DJ Donald Glaude. This should be an epic set of remixes and original electro jams that will keep you moving all night long and through to the next day. Get your fist pump ready and your dancing shoes on!

Marques Wyatt @ Cielo
LA Regular Marques Wyatt is giving NYC a special one night show at the party house Cielo. Known for his soulful techno renditions that preach about what the music can do for your soul, you’ll be singing along to DJ Marques even before you start drinking. Way to party!
