North Beach Festival: OMG PIZZA!
By: Erik Lillquist 06/09/09This weekend, North Beach is celebrating the 55th annual North Beach Festival at Washington Square. On both Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm you can head on down to our own little Italy to get your fix of street food, PIZZA, music and crafts from local vendors and performers.
Highlights:
- 2 stages of music with local bands like Stompy Jones, Lava, The Sun Kings and Hale Baskin. Click here to see the line up and schedule.
- Mojito will be throwing down all weekend with DJs spinning from noon-close with drink specials abound. Stick around the front of the bar for some absurd people watching on Grant Street.
- Tony Gamignani - World Champion Pizza Tosser will "perform" live on Sunday at 1:45 p.m.
- Dozens of clothing, jewelry and food vendors.
GetWize: Parking in North Beach sucks even when there isn’t a special event so it will be especially bad this weekend. If you drive, take advantage of the validated parking for $3 at the Golden Gate Garage (250 Clay, between Battery and Drumm (map). A bus will leave the garage every few minutes and you get off at the Broadway/Columbus stop. Get back on the bus before 10:00 p.m. at Grant & Broadway. Get your ticket validated at Calzone’s Restaurant located at 430 Columbus.
