If you have been to Burning Man in the past 7 years you probably know Opulent Temple. The SF based sound and art camp has been one of the most influential and largest groups on the Playa and is always responsible for bringing in the big name DJ's for sets in front of thousands of "burners" every night of the week long event in Black Rock City.

Opulent Temple is a massive endeavor to say the least. From organizing the volunteers and transporting the equipment (we're talking semi's worth of stuff here) to managing the line up and getting the big name talent to essentially come out to the desert for free, it's a year round effort.

On March 6th, the folks from Opulent Temple are getting started early and throwing their first big fundraiser event of 2009. Treasure Island is the location for this one and it is going to be massive to say the least. UK heavyweight DJ Carl Cox takes the main stage along with Mark Lewis and local heroes Syd Gris, Alain Octavo and Rooz while other Burning Man camps like The Deep End and Hookahdome are getting in on the action as well. There will also be huge art installations including Serpent Mother and Pete Hudson's Homoborous. All in all there are 5 areas of music and art. Think of it as a mini Playa but much closer than Black Rock City.

This will be an event for the books and all proceeds go to ensuring that Opulent Temple can once again rock you out on the Playa in 2009. Tickets are $30 and can be bought here.
