Third time’s the charm for this high-end Vietnamese eatery. Not that they needed it. Out the Door, the self-described “to-go counter” manifestation of the much-lauded Slanted Door, recently opened its third location in San Francisco.
Just one year behind schedule, Charles Phan’s brainchild has steadily built up the kind of buzz restaurateurs only dream of. Wooden walls, high ceilings, and earth tones bring together a cool and calming atmosphere for the hustle and bustle of the busy restaurant.
The menu’s whipped up by Grace Nguyen and consists of Vietnamese staples: steamed buns, lemongrass chicken, and pho. There’s also more to love in the decidedly unexpected breakfast alternative, which features lighter fare such as sweet pastries (think coconut buns) and heavier, heartier foods such as meaty quiches.
Getwize: Whether you’re downtown or near the piers, Mr. Phan has you covered. Stop by Out the Door if you’re strolling near the Ferry Building or browsing in Westfield Shopping Center.
