A ton of buzz has been generated over this Outside Lands event in Golden Gate Park, which will be bringing in tens of thousands of people and A-list artists. In fact, promoters expect the event to sell out, so make sure you buy your tickets before they do. Tickets are expensive, but damn well worth it, what with the bevy of international and local talent that will be gracing the stage. Here are a few can't-miss acts that will feel right at home on the Golden Gate Park stage--they're from San Francisco.

Lyrics Born
Genre: Hip Hop
Lyrics Born gained national attention when his hit "Callin' Out" made it onto a Diet Coke commercial, but this artist is no sell-out: His CDs "Later that Day" and "Same !@#$ Different Day" have garnered rave reviews from critics, who applaud his large vocabulary and complex rhyming techniques.

ALO
Genre: Rock, Jam Band
ALO, short for Animal Liberation Orchestra, started playing together in their high school days at Saratoga High and moved up the ranks to where they were signed by Jack Johnson's label and toured for Dave Matthews Band. Their new CD, Roses & Clover, is the intersection of their jam band style with their rock roots, which should make for an interesting gig when they hop on the Outside Lands stage.

Matt Nathanson
Genre: Folk Rock
While he is not an SF native, Matt Nathanson has been living in the city for the past decade, where he has gained serious popularity with songs of his that have hit TV shows and movies like One Tree Hill, NCIS, and American Wedding.

Two Gallants
Genre: Indie Rock
Born and raised San Franciscans, Two Gallants are an indie rock duo that has been performing in and around the city since 2002. While they are most likely known for a tasering incident they were a part of in Houston, their music is heavily blues-based, which means that heartstrings will probably be tugged

Mother Hips
Genre: Psychadelic Rock
For those festivalgoers who want to feel like they're back in the 60's and 70's, the Mother Hips is going to be that ticket. Their new CD, Kiss the Crystal Flake, is deemed as a "must-have for afficionados who truly appreciate the psychedelic-70s-power-pop movement."

Sean Hayes
Genre: Folk
It's hard to put a finger on what this guy sounds like: Brett Dennen, Tracy Chapman, Art Garfunkel, Damien Rice, Nick Drake... they're all potential candidates when trying to describe Sean Hayes, and that's what makes him universally appealing.

Rupa and the April Fishes
Genre: Latin, Fusion
There's no real better way to describe Rupa and the April Fishes than Hiya Swanhuyser did for SF Weekly: "If local singer Rupa were a movie, she would be Amélie meets Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown meets Latcho Drom meets Do the Right Thing. She'd be set in India and Berkeley...She would be (and, in fact, is) an instant cult classic among the smart, idealistic, international set."
