Outside Lands, Sneaker Pimps & Burning Man: SF Events

This Week San Francisco gears up for round two of Outside Lands with the festival itself at GGP and various afterparties sprinkled throughout the city. OSL isn't the only thing going down though, will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas makes a stop at Ruby Skye and the exodus to Burning Man begins.

Behrouz @ Vessel
San Francisco local house music and producer, Behrouz will spin at Vessel this Thursday night. He likes sexy music, deep house, tribal and progressive beats so dress accordingly.

Gala Electronica Fundraiser @ Mighty
Sick of staying in and watching re-runs of Grey's Anatomy? Gala Electronica comes by Mighty this Thursday for some dancing, beats and some full-on performances from Gala Electronica. It's an electronic dance odyssey - how could you possibly RESIST?

Friday, August 28th

Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival @ Golden Gate Park
To anyone who's thinking of not going to Outside Lands this weekend, this is not the time to be frugal. The bands are amazing, and your excuses are probably lame. Headliners include the legendary Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band and Tenacious D (a.k.a "The Greatest Band in the World"). Check out our Guide to Outside Lands Highlights for help in navigating your weekend. The official Outside Lands Website also has a nifty magic scheduler that helps you create your own schedule. Tickets for all three days are $225 and $89.50 for single day tickets. Click here to buy tickets to Outside Lands. Outside Lands will also be the first festival to stream live on YouTube.

Jaytech @ 1015 Folsom
Aussie-born Jaytech will plant himself at the tables this Friday at 1015 Folsom for a melodic house set. Jaytech is Above & Beyond's official opening DJ of choice. Sounds like it's time to bounce around 1015 again.

DJ Rap @ Supperclub
DJ Rap, undisputed queen of the turntables, owner of Proper Talent and Improper Talent record labels and mover and shaker in the Drum & Bass genre will paint the white walls at Supperclub with her colorful, bouncing beats this Friday.

Signature @ Infusion Lounge
You can bet that Infusion Lounge's Signature Party on August 28th will be packed to the brim with the finest looking ladies and gents on town. Get ready to dance on the tables and order three rounds of ketel one in a bottle.

Serge Devant @ Ruby Skye
One of Tiesto's own favorite DJs, Serge Devant of the Soviet Union is hitting Ruby Skye this Friday. He's thrown down tracks for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and his name has graced the illustrious Coca-Cola bottle. Sounds pretty gangsta to us.

Saturday, August 29th

Sneaker Pimps @ Mighty
Uhhh... Say what? The world's largest touring sneaker hip-hop lifestyle exhibition? Apparently. Sneaker Pimps will arrive at Mighty this Saturday featuring over 1,500 pairs of rare, limited edition, vintage, celeb signed, artists collaborated sneakers and MORE. There will be live street art. There will be skateboarding demos. There will be street basketball competitions (solid). AND there will be live hip-hop and rock performances. RAD. If you need any other reasons to go, then, we can't help you, no one can.

WILL.I.AM @ Ruby Skye
In the wake of his first solo studio album, will.i.am, Black Eyed Peas frontman will make a stop at Ruby Skye this Saturday night after Black Eyed Peas plays at Outside Lands. His solo album Songs About Girls follows the story of a young hip-hop producer who falls in love... So, what we're saying is, you'll probably relate.

Mystre @ 1015 Folsom
One of San Francisco's Trance pioneers, Mystre will make a stop at 1015 Folsom this Saturday. Bring your trance pants. (And $15). OR get on the free guestlist if you plan to arrive before 10:30 p.m.

Tuesday, September 1st

Burning Man @ Black Rock City
While for many the end of August means going back to school or the start of the newest season of Project Runway, thousands of others across the world are preparing for a week of radical self-expression at this year's Burning Man. The San Francisco exodus to Black Rock City has already begun and the burners will be out in full force this year (with, OMG, cell phone access?) For real though, Burning Man is a San Francisco tradition and seasoned burners will be going primal for the week in the desert, equipped with enough water and trailmix to satiate a pack of wolves. The classic music camps will return this year - expect big things from Opulent Temple and Pink Mammoth. Also, while you're at it, check out our PlayaWize Guide to Burning Man 2009.
