In support of their most recent release Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,
French indie rockers Phoenix will be playing a show at The Fillmore on January 26th. This foursome hailing from Versailles has been making music together sine childhood and released their first album United in 2000. Phoenix's second album Alphabetical garnered them some attention with their song "Victim of the Crime" when it was chosen by Hedi Slimane as the soundtrack to his fashion show for Dior Homme. The release of It's Never Been Like That in 2006 had them touring the States and Europe. Nearly a decade after their first release, Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix has been nominated for a Grammy in "Best Alternative Music Album" of 2009. Never heard any tracks from Phoenix before? Actually, we're quite sure you have. Their song "Too Young" was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Lost in Translation and "1901" can be heard in a Cadillac commercial. Their current hit single "Lisztomania" has been tearing up the airwaves and was featured in the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are.

Akin to Beatles-mania, Lisztomania is a term that describes the chaotic scene that swept Europe in 1842. Hysteria would ensue when virtuoso Franz Liszt would tickle the ivories. Women would shriek and scream with delight. They would tear Liszt's velvet gloves and handkerchiefs to shreds as they fought over these highly-prized souvenirs, and the concert halls were packed with standing-room-only audiences. Judging from the gushing comments left on the band's website from fans who have witnessed their shows firsthand, you can bet Phoenixmania will be sweeping the Fillmore and you're not going to want to miss it. The show on the 26th is the last show Phoenix will be playing in California before they head over to Tokyo, Australia and Europe, so catch 'em while you can.
