What’s the formula for a successful pizza joint in the Mission? Well, the folks at Pi Bar are hoping that the following ingredients will suffice:
1. An earnest, but familiar story behind Pi. Young boy (Rich Rosen) learns about the wonders of pizza tossing, and, apparently, the Zen of great pies in New York. Now grown man has epiphany and devotes resources to opening a place of his own to recreate the magic in California. Read the manifesto on the bar’s website or right outside their doors’ for more info.
2. Much anticipated, yet delayed openings. Locals and visitors alike have patiently waited for Pi Bar to open for months. Numerous false starts and rumored roadblocks have been removed. The Bar is finally ready to open.
3. Home-grown décor and sufficient drink list Enough said.
4. Straightforward CA/NY Fusion menu. And by “fusion” we really mean New York –style pizza with California style fresh ingredients. Can you dig it?
5. Good vibes from surrounding local foodie faves’. Carving out a gastronomical niche for oneself is probably pretty difficult without the support of a great location. Pi is located fortuitously in the Mission, where some of the top-rated restaurants boast unforgivingly amazing food for its visitors.
Does the formula work? Check out Pi Bar in the Mission to see for yourself.
GetWize: Thankfully, Pi Bar’s specials are mathematical music to your ears. Enjoy a slice of pizza for $3.14 or swing by between the hours of 3pm and 6pm to wash one down with a beer for just $6.28.
