Dodgeball, a game that tends to be a major milestone for so many of us, is turning a new leaf. In grade school, when it came to playing dodgeball, you were either picked first or picked last. In other words, you were either a rockstar or you were scarred for life.
On May 2, 2010, David Rubenstein, the founder of the Save Darfur Coalition, along with the Best Shot Foundation hopes to change the face of face of the game for the better with a full-on dodgeball tournament for a good cause. The tournament, entitled Pnock Out Pneumonia, will take place on various dates across the United States with proceeds going towards the fight against childhood pneumonia. Money raised will also benefit the Best Shot Foundation’s awareness project, bringing attention to the fight against childhood pneumonia-the #1 killer of children under the age of five.
The tournament is being held at UCLA’s Student Activities Center starting at noon, registration is $10 and anyone can participate. You can register with a team of up to 8 people or if you register alone you’ll be placed on an existing team. Oh and did I mention that you get an extra life for every 100 people you get to sign an anti-pneumonia petition?
So gather up your friends and family and get ready for some old school fun, all the while supporting a good cause. For more information and to register for the tournament visit their website.
GetWize: Come out, gear up and take a shot at the #1 cause of child mortality, literally!
