A Thai Twist on American Pub Grub
Put a Thai twist on your game time grub at Root, SoMa's newest burger and whiskey spot just a block from Willie Mays Plaza. With brick walls and room to squeeze over sixty, the pseudo-sports bar keeps things light with large street-side windows, two interior bars (with a third on the way), and a massive Buddha bust at the main bar.
Drop by after work to catch the game on one of their three flatscreen TVs by the main bar or sneak in once the sports crowds have left for craft cocktails like the Rye Barrel (Builleit, Fernet, lemon, mint, Angostura), a lengthy whiskey list, or a choice of six drafts and six bottles. Come time to dine, Root offers a fusion menu of Thai-meets-American entrees like the Spicy Basil Burger, Prawns in a Blanket, or Thai Buffalo Wings.
While the whiskey plan is still in the works, Root is now open for lunch and dinner. Stay tuned for an upcoming brunch menu and a new upstairs bar dubbed Alchemist Bar & Lounge - set to open soon.
