Ruby Skye, Spundae and Torq present a pre independence day weekend event for the trance heads. Kyau & Albert are DJ’s, producers, label owners and talent scouts from Germany and they can tear up a dancefloor with the best of them. Get the weekend started early.
Decibel feat. Derrick May @ Vessel
Friday is a holiday so get your ass out of the house and go see this legend of dance music. Since 1987, Derrick May has been playing records for fans all around the world and he is often credited as the godfather of Detroit “techno”. Expect a solid mix of techno and house.
Krafty Kuts @ Triple Crown
The last time Krafty Kuts came to San Francisco, almost 1000 people crammed into 1015 to catch him play. This time the undisputed king of breakbeat is making it intimate over at Triple Crown. There are only 200 tickets available for this show and it will sell out and it will be worth it. You heard it here.
IndepenDANCE & LMFAO @ 1015 Folsom
Try this genre on for size… Electro-Hop. That’s LMFAO and they are an up and coming duo out of Hollywood. Redfoo and Sky Blu have been causing quite a stir ever since their hit “I’m in Miami Bitch” starting getting radio love around the country on dance stations. Expect hip hop infused dance beats and lots of mayhem.
Sander Kleinenberg @ Ruby Skye
Dutch DJ and producer Sander Kleinenberg will be manning the decks at Ruby Skye on Friday playing his brand of electro house. “This is San Francisco” is a spin on his current LA residency at Avalon Hollywood called “This is Sander Kleinenberg”. Expect a night of both audio and visual stimuli.
Fireworks @ Pier 39
American may not have had the best year last year but you gotta come out and celebrate another birthday right? Free music all afternoon (including 80’s cover band Tainted Love from 6-9p) and the best firework display in the Bay Area. The fuses get lit at 9:30 but get there early to snatch a good spot for viewing. Fireworks will basically launch from Pier 39.
Fillmore Jazz Festival
It is officially festival season in SF and that means that pretty much every week you can expect to find some event in the streets of the city celebrating food, culture, arts or music. This week the festival de jour is the Fillmore Jazz Festival. 4 stages of music, an expected 90,000 attendees, good food and it’s free. Happens on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-6pm on Fillmore Street between Jackson and Eddy.
John O' Callaghan @ 1015
Dubbed as the “brightest thing in Trance”, John O’ Callaghan has been on a tear lately. With support of his newer original tracks coming from the likes of Tiesto, PVD, Ferry Corsten and just about every big name in trance, you know this is going to be a night of big trance anthems.
Leisure @ Paradise Lounge
Leisure is turning 5 this weekend and you can bet that Paradise Lounge will be bumping to the beats of Dead Souls (a Joy Division cover band). Expect a packed house and britpop, madchester, '90s indie, mod, dancy shoegaze, '60's soul all night.
Ron Reeser @ Infusion
One of San Francisco’s best kept secrets, Ron Reeser plays "Rockin beats, a Blend of Funk, a Twist of Disco, and a Hint of Turntablism." His uncanny ability to cut it up and scratch samples into his set unites him with the audience, no matter the size. A special night at the beautiful Infusion Lounge.
