Thursday, July 23rd

De La Soul @ The Fillmore
If you don’t already have your tickets for this show you might want to try Craigslist or a Stub Hub type thing because this one is sold out. De La might just be worth the extra hassle though if you are a fan of the old school… Since ’89 when they released the classic 3 Feet High and Rising album, De La has been pleasing audiences with their unique style of eclectic sampling and quirky lyrics. If you want the real deal, they are at The Fillmore for one night only. Go find that ticket.

Friday, July 24th

Back In the USSR @ 1015 Folsom
1015 has been bringing in some big names in trance this summer and the hit parade continues this weekend with Bobina and DJ Feel. These two Russian DJ/Producers pretty much run the show in the Eastern Block. The Dutch super DJs (Tiesto, Armin, etc) have been playing Bobina tracks for years and DJ Feel mans a long standing spot on Russia’s #1 dance music radio station that broadcasts to 2,000,000 people in 54 Russian cities. They are on a mission to show dance floors around the world that Russia is good for more than just Vodka and hot female spies. This is the debut SF performance for both of these artists so expect them to bring their A game.

Flosstradamus @ Mighty
The Chicago duo, Flosstradamus - dominators of the party scene around the nation with their tag-team DJ sets are hitting Mighty this Friday with support from Trackedemicks and Sleazemore. Flosstradamus has appeared at Coachella, SXSW, Pitchfork Music Festival, parties for Vice and The Fader.

Scooter (of Scooter and Lavelle) and DJ E-Rock @ Infusion Lounge
San Francisco resident DJ E-Rock, known for his Top 40/Hip Hop/House Mash-ups spins in the Main Lounge at Infusion this Friday and DJ Scooter of Scooter & Lavelle will take the party into the North Lounge Dancefloor for a night of music that you'll actually want to get down with. An MJ tribute sing along might also make an appearance/be completely necessary. Rebirth Brass Band @ Great American Music Hall 7/24 and 7/25
A true tale of rags to riches The Rebirth Brass Band visits San Francisco's Great American Music Hall on July 24th and 25th. Established in the early 80's, the Rebirth Brass Band started out playing on the streets of New Orleans. They now tour North America and Europe regularly and have become one of the most popular brass bands in the U.S. The ensembles known for combining various styles of jazz, soul, hip-hop, and funk in order to portray the traditional sounds of New Orleans brass band music. The band consists of trumpeters, trombonists, percussionists, a saxophonist, and a tuba player.

Nickodemus @ Paradise Lounge
From the early days of Giant Step, to today's Turntables on the Hudson parties, Nickodemus has been a key element in the NYC dance music scene for over 10 years. Worldly beats and a blend of Funk, Jazz, Hip Hop and Dub are on tap and the cheap $10 cover makes this a good boogie option. There is also a limited guest list open for the first 50 people who sign up for it at the Paradise website.

Of Montreal @ The Fox
Arguably one of the most whimsical and fun-to-see live indie-pop bands to hit the scene in the past few years, Of Montreal is coming to Oakland's new Fox Theatre this Friday to seduce you with their off-kilter romantic lyrics and magical melodies.

The New Deal @ The Independent
Straight outta Canada, The New Deal's live progressive breakbeat house will take down The Independent this Friday. The energetic three-piece electronic band is known for branding their style as "live progressive breakbeat house" incorporating many elements of modern electronica into their sets.

Dirtybird Quarterly Party @ Mezzanine
Dirtybird Records is throwing their quarterly party this Friday at Mezzanine featuring Justin Martin, Worthy, Christian Martine, Claude Vonstroke and J.Phlip. RSVP at rsvp@dirtybirdrecords.com and get in free before 11:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 25th

Pure Behrouz @ Ruby Skye
San Francisco-based producer and dance music veteran Behrouz Nazari is hitting Ruby Skye this Saturday. Known for mixing elements of deep house, tribal and progressive beats with electro and minimal techno Behrouz has become a highly respected DJ throughout the world and has headlined at huge venues like Pacha in Ibiza, Crobar in Miami and Red Light in Paris.

Glitch Mob @ Mezzanine
Taking influences from hip-hop, rock and experimental electronic genres, The Glitch Mob have crafted a new form of futuristic dance music. The combination of ferocious bass, neck-snapping drums and complex melodies has earned them a worldwide grassroots fanbase. They bring their live show to Mezzanine during their More Voltage tour. Special guests include Nosaj Thing and Daddy Kev.

SuperHero Street Fair
This year the people who brought us the How Weird Street Fair, Sea of Dreams and Harmony Festival are bringing us the first annual SuperHero Street Fair. On Saturday, July 25th from 1:00 p.m. until midnight, Indiana at Cesar Chavez will be taken over by the Supermans and Wonderwomans of San Francisco.

Sunday, July 26th

Lyrics Born @ Stern Grove
Toyko-born and bay area based rapper Lyrics Born will join special guests Joyo Velarde, Trackademicks, DJ D Sharp and more with The Mighty Underdogs at the Stern Grove stage this Sunday. Lyrics Born The Variety Show Season Pho (4!) is now available and hasn't strayed from Lyrics' ability to keep things silly while breaking down some irresistible beats to keep y'all bouncin' in the grove.

Next Aid @ Cafe Cocomo
Do something you can feel good about and get down to this Sunday with the fifth annual FOR THE FUTURE dance party and benefit. Cafe Cocomo and the SF House Music Community are playing host to NextAid's fourteen hour (noon - 2:00 a.m.) benefit for children affected by AIDS in Africa. This year SF old-skool legends Mark E. Quark and Gavin Hardkiss join local favorites ADM, Adnan, Alona, Anthony Mansfield, Christian Mora, DJ D.R.E., Fil Latorre, Galen, Halo, J Boogie and many more. Cover is $10 at the door before 3:00 p.m. and $15 after.
