It's another week packed full of hot events and cool things to do so forget about all that ails you and get out there and have yourself some fun.

Thursday, July 9th

Electric Whomp @ Roe
The monthly project (2nd Thursdays) from AM Soul & Hi Growth called Electric Whomp is a mash of Dubstep and Electro and who knows what else from likely local suspects like An-Ten-Nae (Get Freaky) and El Papachamgo (El Circo). $5 entry (via RSVP on Going) and 2fers until 11:00 p.m. sweeten the deal.

Surprise Me Mr. Davis @ The Independent
Fresh from HSMF comes the unlikely band made up of members of other bands. The Electro-Folk (we swear we didn’t make that term up) Surprise Me Mr. Davis actually formed back in 2003 when members from The Slip and the talented singer/songwriter Nathan Moore got snowed in during a tour. From tender to down right funky, range is the name of the game with this “vaudeville rock band gone mad.”

Friday, July 10th

Adam Freeland @ Mezzanine
Opel Productions brings another big show to San Francisco this weekend with Adam Freeland. To borrow the words of Syd Gris – “Completely smashing genres with a mature fusion of his high energy dance sets with his love of indie music, a Freeland dj set is a pleasureable assault on all senses and mind states. Loads of cutting edge music awaits you from this pioneer of defying expectations.” Translation… This will kick ass.

THE FUTURE 002 - KODE9 & SPACEAPE @ 103 Harriet
It’s a dubby world these days in the dance music scene and Blasthaus is helping that movement here in San Francisco. Kode 9 (Hyperdub Records) brings with him a trunk full (or harddrive) of the freshest dub and also the venerable MC Spaceape. Quote from the blasthaus.com site.. “Kode9's sets travel through a selection of sub-bass driven, heavy skank with off-key synths, drawing from the best of UK underground scenes such as dubstep, grime, UK house and garage.” Who doesn’t love them some heavy skank, right?

Steve Aoki & Joachim Garraud @ Ruby Skye
Dim Mak Records founder Steve Aoki returns to SF to show Ruby Skye how electro house it’s done now a days. Part of the new wave of super club DJ’s, Aoki has been gaining recognition for his Djing, his remixing (Lenny Kravitz, Bloc Party and Snoop to name a few), his clothing label, his record label, his parties and his own music. Along for the ride is Joachim Garraud who is no shotgun man himself. The two will play together in a proper 2x4 style and Joachim will probably bust out some instruments along the way.

Change the Beat @ The Paradise Lounge
Change the Beat is celebrating three years this weekend over at The Dice. A night featuring electronic music by record boss & producer Andy Votel (UK) and B-Music label-mate Mahssa, Los Angeles favorite and Low End Theory resident The Gaslamp Killer, and finally the global jazz/electronica genius Free The Robots. Not to be missed event for music lovers, record collectors, scratch enthusiasts and anyone looking for a seriously good dance party.

Saturday, July 11th

Tritonal @ 1015 Folsom
You may have never heard of Tritonal but if you listen to trance you have most certainly heard Tritonal. The duo known as Tritonal (Bitonal probably gave off the wrong idea) have released countless club and stadium anthems that have found their way into heavy rotation by the likes of Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond, Armin, Markus Schulz and more. This is their first time in San Francisco performing but most definitely not the last. Expect big sound and big anthem style trance.

Miles of Sand @ Oakland Warehouse space
If you’ve ever been out Black Rock City during Labor Day weekend for that little gathering known as Burning Man, you probably have heard of Opulent Temple. The sound camp responsible for bringing THE biggest names in the scene out to the desert is holding a fundraiser event out in Oaktown this weekend. Here’s the desctiption from their site, “A collective massive beach theme mega party with the diverse likes of Dan Das Man & Karen Cusalito, The Mutaytor, Flaming Lotus Girls, Symbiosis, Gooferman, Space Cowboys, False Profit, Neuro Weapon, The Mermen, Gravity Point, Kid Beyond, Eric McFadden, Drop Motion, super sized art cars, foolin' & toolin', carnival games, 200 tons of sand, 5 (!) swimming pools and a whole lot more in 250,000 square foot of action. Yowza.” Yowsa indeed.

Club 1992 @ 111 Minna Gallery
OMG. The 90’s are like so in right now. Don’t have a cow and don’t spaz (ok, go ahead and spaz), just get your wall bangs hairsprayed into place, pin your jeans and bring your acid washed jean jacket on over to 111 Minna for Club 1992. It will be totally tubular and awesome. Jeffery Paradise and Richie Panic play musical hosts while Parker Day, Ava Berlin and Hot Tub make sure the party stays fun and gets properly documented for all to revel over the next day.

Sunday, July 12th

2nd Sunday @ Mission Rock
Installment number two of the 2nd Sunday series for 2009 is a collaboration with OM Records and the lineup is a doozy. Greenskeepers (LIVE), DJ Heather, Colette, Chuck Love, Johnny Fiasco, Vikter Duplaix, Pezzner (LIVE), James Curd (DJ Set), Whooligan, Hakobo, and 2nd Sunday residents Rooz, Ben Doren (& Jay Bowman on Guitar), Rouzbeh, and Bo.
