If you know what’s up, then you already have your ticket to the 26th annual San Francisco International Beer Fest this weekend at Fort Mason. If you don’t, then start scouring Craigslist to pay double or get in line on Friday at 12:30 pm when they release 100 more tickets, the event's been sold out for months.
The SF Beerfest has become a San Francisco staple for beer drinkers all over the bay. Over 300 different beers from breweries all around the world will be there along with food from local restaurants including Joe Dimaggio’s, Pizza Orgasmica, Perry’s and many more. Along with the delicious faire from local eateries, the organizers of SF Beerfest were smart enough to put a huge table in the middle filled with drunk munchies including corn dogs, pretzels, peanuts and popcorn. Basically if you enjoy beer and food, this is the event of the year for you.
The best part of SF Beerfest is EVERYTHING is included with the ticket price, all you can drink, all you can eat...everything. Be sure to get there early, the line starts backing up at 6:00pm so if you want to get in at 7pm in order to maximize your drinking (the event only goes until 10pm), get there well before then. I recommend bringing some road sodas for the wait, but don’t be stupid about it, SF’s finest will be out in full force.
Here’s some recommendations on breweries to check out while you’re there:
Bear Republic Brewing Company
Green Flash Brewery
Firestone Walking Brewing Co.
Stone Brewing
Dogfish Head
Deschutes Brewery
Shmaltz Brewing
And of course, the usuals for the non-adventurous types:
Blue Moon
Heineken
Bud Light
Corona
Guinness
And many many more…
If you’re looking for probably the greatest thing in beer since Oktoberfest, beg, borrow or steal a ticket and get out to Fort Mason this Saturday.
