111 Minna: Redefining the Art Gallery

To the average passer-by strolling down 2nd street on a busy afternoon in downtown San Francisco, 111 Minna may seem like a typical art gallery in a renovated office building. However, for those who are in the know, 111 Minna Gallery is truly on the cutting edge of San Francisco’s art scene, and has become the place to be for artists and DJs alike.

Since 1993, 111 Minna Gallery has been in the business of art and leisure and has redefined the possibilities and expectations of today’s art gallery. 111 Minna has set the stage for a broad spectrum of local and international artists, world class DJ’s, live performers and film screenings in an elegantly urban atmosphere.

111 Minna is without doubt one of the classiest and most unique venues in San Francisco that every urbanite needs to experience. Its fascinating art collections are complimented by its retro modern décor featuring an impressive 25 foot long rolled steel and copper bar created by Bay Area sculptor Jud Bergeron, multifunctional theatrical lighting designed by Terry Ohm of Impact Lighting and an eclectic mix of modern and antique furnishings.

The gallery’s art collections rotate every first Thursday of the month, and every opening reception is free and open to the public from 6pm until closing. This month the gallery is featuring Serena Cole and Tahiti Perhson until September 27th. The next opening will be on Thursday, October 2nd from 6pm-late, for Captain and Commander, featuring new works by Henri Lewis and Keli Reule.

The gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 12-5 pm and nightly on a rotating schedule for special events. 111 Minna has become especially well known for its weekly and monthly parties. For more than ten years now, the “Qoöl” party held every Wednesday is known as “the original clubbing happy hour in San Francisco, (if not the world.)” While its "LOOK OUT WEEKEND" party held every Friday evening boasts to be a happy hour of epic proportions.

More recently, the 1980s theme party “Barracuda” held every fourth Saturday, has become a new staple in San Francisco’s every changing nightlife.

111 Minna Gallery is located between Howard and Mission at 2nd Street in the SOMA district of downtown San Francisco.
