Lauryn Hill and Dave Chappelle Surprise Show @ New Parish
In case you aren't following up and coming Oakland venue New Parish's twitter, now might be a good time to click Follow. Justification for staying abreast of events at such an intimate East Bay venue? Well at 5:30pm on Wednesday, the New Parish tweeted the following: "Psssst Ms Lauryn Hill is doing a special club performance with her friend Dave Chappelle tonight at The New Parish in Oakland! Pass it on!" A dedicated SF Weekly blogger reports on how it all went down from the special police permits to the encores at 3:30am.
NY Times Traces a National Trend to the Mission's Public Works
This week was all about national love for our favorite things, with the NY Times' Travel section covering SF Underground Market at Public Works on April 10, and then on April 14, the NY Times headlined a story about Food Raves popping up all over the country (well, turns out, mostly in SF). Lent Is Over, Time For Beer
And wasting no time getting the post-Lenten celebrations underway, Polk Street is hosting their 2011 Easter Bunny Pub Crawl all day Saturday as a pre-game to Easter Sunday the following day. The fun starts at McTeague's Saloon at 1pm-3pm, progressing to Kozy Kar Bar from 3pm-5pm, Bigfoot Lounge from 5pm-7pm, Shanghai Kelly's from 7pm-9pm and Encore Karaoke Lounge till midnight. Apparently bunny costumes are encourage, but no pressure. We anticipate a lot of Playboy bunnies.
