If you haven’t had your morning bagel, go get it, your going to start growling. La Cocina is closing down the street and rolling out the food carts for the annual SF Street Food Festival. Drinks too, of course will be offered up, because what is a Squid salad with maras pepper, preserved lemon, cabbage, mint and cilantro (Aziza) without a peach and sage shrub (Absinthe) to go with it? Admission is free, if you want only to walk around and smell the multitude of creations by the many acclaimed chefs. Most likely you’ll want to try a little something though, and at good cause, La Cocina is a nonprofit working to create self-sufficiency through food businesses and place a priority on women-owned and immigrant-owned businesses. I’ll eat to that. Each Vendor sells their ‘bite’ separately, but if you want to make it easy for yourself, purchase a passport to eliminate splitting 20’s into singles and save a few of them in the process.
GetWize: Put a fork into it on August 22nd, 11 AM- 7 PM on Folsom Street between 25th and 26th in front of La Cocina. A variety of passports are available at brownpaperbagtickets.com so you may indulge according your pocketbooks size. If you like this, note its sister event in Oakland the following week, Eat Real Festival.
