Feed the Beast: SF All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Buffets

“Hello, my name is Erik and I am a Sushi Addict.” I’ve often thought that if there was a Sushi Anonymous help group for people with an addiction to sushi I would probably be one of the charter members. It’s not easy being hooked on hamachi. My affliction with albacore, this need for nigiri, has often lead me into wallet breaking benders of sea urchin, eel, shrimp and all sorts of raw oceanic delights. Sushi is an expensive habit and I can rarely satisfy my Godzilla like cravings, so when the urge is too monstrous and I have the need to feed, I hit the All You Can Eat Sushi buffets. For a city that has over 200 sushi restaurants, these havens for sushi degenerates are surprisingly hard to find. Leave it to an addict to sniff out the goods though. Here are a few All You Can Eat Sushi Buffets in San Francisco.

Sushi Hunter
Hood: North Beach
Perhaps the best known of the AYCE Sushi joints in SF, Sushi Hunter lets you get down to business for about $25. Make sure to eat everything they give you because they will charge you additional money when they find the big rice ball you stuffed in your pocket so you could make room for more fish in that belly of yours.

Sushi Hana
Hood: Tenderloin
Down on Van Ness, Sushi Hana gives up the key to their sushi buffet for mere 22.95. The fish is fresh and the service is down right friendly.

Mas Sake
Hood: Marina
For a social scene, Mas Sake in the Marina will pump your stomach full til you can’t take it anymore, but only 'til 7pm. Dj’s and sake bombs make staying there bearable even after the deal is over.

Nara Sushi
Hood: Polk Gulch
Sunday night AYCE til 9pm. I generally like to stay away from Sushi on Sundays (something Anthony Bourdain taught me) but when the beast calls it’s hard to resist. On a Sunday, Nara Sushi in the Polk Gulch comes through as a solid replacement to religion.
