SINGfest 2010
SINGfest 2010

It seems as if the SINGfest folks are as restless as we are to get back in the mix of things after the cancellation of last year’s event. "South East Asia's premier live music event" returns to Fort Canning Park from 3rd to 5th August with a mind-blowing line-up that’s brashly determined to make up for the collective disappointment of 2009 – and wow, kudos because mission clearly accomplished. 2010’s insanely stacked line-up brings us a wealth of talent from diverse genres aiming to disprove the axiom “You can’t please everyone.” The last sold out festival in 2008 attracted 20,000 fans over 2 days and 2010’s iteration could very well be even more massive.

Katy Perry (who may also be known as Zooey Deschanel’s younger, possibly hotter clone) is a headlining highlight along with legendary alternative rockers, Smashing Pumpkins. We are gleefully look forward to Billy Corgan’s shiny bald Uncle Fester-esque head to make its maiden appearance in Singapore. Kanye West is also on the bill and besides questionable timing and a lack of understanding about how fishsticks equals to gay fish, no one can argue that the guy makes brilliant music and puts on an even more brilliant live show. Rounding up the line-up are Australian singer-guitarist Orianthi, South Korean sensation Wonder Girls, soul and blues singer Diane Birch, rock trio 30 Seconds to Mars, Canadian metal band Hail the Villain and English musician Ian Brown. More acts are expected to be announced so keep an ear out!
