With their newly released studio album Ad Explorata, the Atlanta based musician and artist collective Sound Tribe Sector 9 (aka STS9) is embarking on a nation wide promotional tour. A band known primarily for their live performances, Sound Tribe explores a plethora of musical genres ranging from funk to psychadelia, and hip-hop to electronica. By recording and releasing their tunes on the independently owned and self operated 1320 records, the band has been able to exist above pressures to conform or contort their musical ambitions to fit into certain dichotomies. Their new disc, Ad Explorata, is “inspired by the idea that there is always more to be discovered, manifested by the belief that one can always push towards the unknown and unexplored, and created by the will and desire for constant artistic evolution, expression and change”.
Sound Tribe will be returning to the Bay Area, their described home away from home, for a show on Saturday, February 13th, at the Fox Theater in Oakland. STS9 has a certain affinity for the Bay Area, as it was one of the first places to really embrace the groups' sound, and also where the band was able to amass one of its first substantial followings. As a result, you can be guaranteed two things. One is that the band is going to put on a killer show. And two, is that the show will sell out fast. Be sure you get your tickets early to be a part of this notable event.
GetWize: The show starts at 8:00pm on Saturday, February 13th. Tickets run for $27.50. To buy tickets, click here, and don't forget to sign up for a chance to win a pair of free tickets right here at MetroWize!
