One of reggae’s most notorious trios, The Heptones’ Leroy Sibbles and Barry Llellewyn arrive from Jamaica backed by The Lions to play Dub Club Wednesday, June 24th. Beginning with their first single “Fattie Fattie” in 1966, The Heptones became a quintessential rocksteady band in Kingston’s music scene. The fellas were known for wearing slick stage suits and covering American pop songs, which falls out of line with the rastafari roots reggae normally associated with music out of Jamaica. You’re sure to hear plenty of classics you can name and many you’d recognize on the drop of a beat—including Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan! Dub Club will surely hit capacity so put on your dancing pants and get thee to the Echoplex.
GetWize: All-reggae party Dub Club takes place at the Echoplex every Wednesday night. In addition to landmark guests from Jamaica, Dub Club’s local DJs and selectors perform on the regular to crowds of 500 to 800 laidback part-goers. $10 adv, $10 before 10:00 p.m. day of show, $15 after.
