The Mint Soothes the Soul

Just a hop, skip, and a fifteen-minute drive from your usual Hollywood watering hole, The Mint is a classy joint, rich in history and character. Established in 1937, the walls resonate that post-prohibition speakeasy vibe, when you needed a password and handshake to get past the door.

Unlike the little dive bar down the street, The Mint offers delectable food, delicious drinks and music to complete the experience. Most nights charge a cover between $5-$10. Once inside, expect to pay anywhere from $15-$30 for drinks and eats. For those who can or will, the Calamari Tempura ($9) or the Southwestern Crab Cake ($10) make great starters and we recommend the Grilled Salmon with Mango Chutney ($17) as the main course. Pair that with a nice Chardonnay, some soulful music, a hot date, and you are set for the night! Just remember to book a reservation prior to heading down, seats are limited and the place quickly becomes standing room only.

The amazing sound quality at The Mint goes as well with an acoustic solo act as an eight-piece rock band. The place notoriously books jazz, soul, and lively lounge acts, with great bands in and out all the time soaking in the historical karma. Back in the day, Willie Dixon, Natalie Cole, B.B. King and Stevie Wonder made their moves on The Mint’s stage. If you really want to be wowed and let loose to something that’s not Justin Timberlake, try Vintage Soul Fridays every 1st Friday of the month. Street Parking is reasonable, if you’re in no hurry. For those who can’t afford the luxury of patience but have a few bucks to spare, The Mint offers valet.
