Beer. Bands. Tomatoes.....Fight! While the slogan of the Tomato Battle may read like a Facebook invite to a Frat house party, don't be fooled--this downtown bonanza is more like running with the bulls than playing beer pong.

Unifying over 5,000 fruit crazy mother-chuckers for an afternoon of live bands, cocktail slinging and serious Roma tomato flinging, join in the mayhem on July 14th when the global event hits SD.

Festivities commence at noon with live entertainment and a costume contest. But don't shed your game, as the battle kicks off later in the afternoon when 300,000 pounds of past-ripe tomatoes will hurl through the air, "like sentient apple trees avenging the initial-carving of amorous teenagers," (the official metaphor of the Tomato Battle, Metrowize cannot lay claim on creating this genius explanation.) Beats and beer will be provide ammo while the pelting continues on strong through the evening.
