Here’s the full lineup with a brief summary of our favorite acts, followed by some useful information on parking and transportation, important times, what to bring, and some other cool events hosted by the festival. We hope to see you there!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH

MGMT
Headliners and Brooklyn-based duo MGMT has been described as neo-psychedelic, synthpop, Dance Punk, Indie RockIndie Rock and Folktronica, among others. We’re not really sure how to categorize their music, but we know we love it. Their debut album “Oracular Spectacular” dropped in 2008 and skyrocketed them to international fame. They have quickly become one of the most dynamic and exciting groups around.

MSTRKRFT
An Electronic/house music group from Toronto, these two guys started out in 2005. Now, with two CD’s behind them, the most recent of which came out this year, they are at the forefront of the electronic music movement and remix masters who have mixed for the likes of Justice (D.A.N.C.E.), The Kills, Bloc Party, Brazilian Girls, Armand Van Helden, Chromio, Space Cowboys and many more.

Girl Talk
Greg Michael Gills, aka Girl Talk, is the king of mashup and digital sampling in which he mixes dozens of songs together to create his own. If you’re new to mashups, this is the perfect opportunity to hear the best of the best.

Passion Pit
A 5 person Boston-based Electronic/indie rock group that was formed in late 2007, their EP “Chunk of Change” was released in 2008 to rave reviews. Their first full length studio album, “Manners”, was released in May of this year and became one of the summer’s hottest albums. Passion Pit started out as a project for the lead singer who wrote songs for his girlfriend for a Valentine’s Day gift. Lucky girl.

Brazilian Girls
This NY electronic/dance group is known for incorporating diverse musical styles into their music like tango, chanson, house, reggae and lounge. Oddly enough, none of their group members are Brazilian, and only one of them is a girl. We don’t get it, but we still love them.

Federico Aubele
Aubele plays a mixture of lounge/tango music infused with elements of Mexican bolero, dub and bass. He describes his music as a synthesis of styles from throughout the Americas. He was signed to Thievery Corporation’s label after sending them a demo in 2003.

Dan Deacon
Deacon is an American Electronic musician who is famous for his outrageous live performances. When playing solo he has been known to play at floor level within the audience, and his shows always have a heavy dose of audience participation that often requires the mass performance of physical tasks and/or games (human tunnels, dance circles, mass stretching, etc). We can’t wait to see what he has planned for TIMF.

LTJ Bukem feat. MC Conrad
LTJ Bukem, aka Danny Williamson, is a drum and bass musician born in London. He infuses his music with jazz and has come to be known as inventing “intelligent brum and bass”. He made “Essential Mix” with MC Conrad, a British MC, in 1995, fusing drum & bass with hip hop.

The following artists will also be performing Saturday:
The Streets
DJ Krush
Murs
Crown City Rockers
The Limousines

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18TH

The Flaming Lips
This neo-psychedelic/alternative/space/experimental rock group, which formed in Oklahoma in the 80’s, has been around for quite some time. They are known for their elaborate live shows, featuring large amounts of confetti, balloons, puppets, light shows, and out-of-this-world costumes. The Flaming Lips found commercial and critical success with their 2002 album “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots”, and since then they’ve amassed more than a few grammies. Their latest album, “Embryonic”, comes out this October 13th.

The Decemberists
This indie rock group from Portland, Oregon, is famous for incorporating different instruments, like the accordion, Hammond organ, Wurlitzer Organ and upright bass into their music. Their lyrics follow a storytelling approach which tends to evoke international historical events and themes. The Decemberists have appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brian” and settled a feud with Stephen Colbert in a guitar solo competition.

Beirut
Lead by 23 year old, New Mexico native Zach Condon, this band plays Eastern European folk mixed with Western pop. Zach dropped out of High School and traveled Europe at age 17, where he first became aware of Balkan Folk Music. His music is a mix of Balkan Folk music and electronica. Trips to France and to Mexico have also influenced his albums.

Grizzly Bear
This psychedelic pop, folk rock, indie and experimental group hails from Brooklyn. They released their first album in 2004 and have since opened for Radiohead, during which lead guitarist Jonny Greenwood called Grizzly Bear his favorite band, in addition to releasing an album of their material covered by Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS), Band of Horses and Atlas Sound. They have also collaborated with Beirut.

Yo La Tengo
The Walkmen
Bob Mould
Thao With The Get Down Stay Down
Vetiver
Spiral Stairs

Tommy Guerrero
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

Additional Info:
There will be no refunds for this festival, it will proceed rain or shine. You can bring small backpacks, 2 bottles of factory sealed water, blankets, towels and umbrellas, and you might want to bring sunscreen and/or a hat to avoid second degree sunburns. There will be multiple ATMS on festival grounds, so you don’t need to worry about running out of cash. There will also be alcohol, reasonably-priced food (we’ve heard rumors of Mexican, Indian, falafel and bbq…yum!) with vegetarian and vegan options. The “ice-cream man” will also be there handing out free frozen treats.

In addition, there will be a few other events on Treasure Island. The Treasure Chest is a vendor village selling arts and crafts, Madu Salon will be giving free hair do’s and trims, and there will be a Live Mural Wall featuring the work of 30 Bay Area graffiti artists. Best of all, there will be a 60 ft. Ferris wheel—plus the Bay Bridged will be filming “Ferris Wheel Confessions” throughout the weekend, so if you have an embarrassing secret to tell, apparently you should tell it on the Ferris wheel. If you let them film you, your ride is free. ‘Nough said.
