The Ultra Music Festival during WMC, in Miami, recently announced their phase two lineup for March 27-28 of 2009. Headlining artists include Tiesto, The Prodigy, Bloc Party, Paul Van Dyk, Cut Copy and Armin Van Buuren amongst a laundry list of talent. This year marks the 24th anniversary of the Winter Music Conference, which is known for uniting the dance music industry for the last week in march.
WMC hosts DJs, promoters, press, labels, producers, managers and electronic music enthusiasts from over 70 countries around the world. Every year, the conference creates a platform where the industry changes and innovates the way people create, buy, sell and listen to music by directly connecting industry professionals from different disciplines.
This year will mark one of the best WMC gatherings in history, drawing from all regions of the world and aspects of the electronic genre. At the end of the WMC week, the Ultra Music Festival takes place, where many industry pros and electronic music lovers get together to see their favorite acts.
Dutch headliner, Paul van Dyk, needs no introduction after years of success in the electronic scene and has been headlining Ultra since the very first year. He’ll no doubt be one of the highlights of the festival; spinning his recent critically acclaimed tracks at one of the biggest stage performances of the year. The Prodigy will also headline, bringing their hardcore and industrial sounds back to the forefront of industry discussion.
Other incredible acts include world renowned DJs Tiesto and Dutch native, Armin Van Buuren who are practically mainstays with their years of experience in producing, performing and publicizing dance music across the board.
Also at Ultra, two of England’s major electro-indie rock sensations, Bloc Party and The Ting Tings, will have must-see shows with their electronic subgenre quickly gaining traction. Rounding out the global talent, Canadian born DeadMau5 and Aussie trio, Cut Copy, will bring new, unique sounds to Ultra in 2009, being labeled everything from progressive house to dance punk, respectively.
