The blight that was the former Little Temple Bar on Santa Monica Blvd. near Silverlake is no more! The neighborhood and booze hounds alike can rejoice. In its place? The Virgil, a specialty craft cocktail bar brought to you by the same people behind the Townhouse in Venice Beach and the Del Monte Speakeasy (also in Venice).

The drinks at The Virgil follow a farm to bar ethos, bringing you the freshest ingredients and mixing them with the finest tequilas, mezcals, and rum. Other premium liquors are in the house, but when a place specializes in one specific type of hooch, you usually want to to stick with what they've got. For those who love Mezcal, check out The Virgil for Mezcal Mondays, offering flights of Mezcal, specialty mezcal drinks, and a discounted, spotlighted mezcal pick of the week. For those looking for a new happy hour hang out on Tuedays, hit up the Virgil for $6 specialty cocktails ALL NIGHT LONG, in addition to $5 beer and wine.
The Virgil prides itself on its "diverse and fantastic" jukebox, but for select nights, The Virgil will be hosting live music and other events, just as its former home did -- there's still plenty of space for dancing in the west-end of the bar, something that hasn't changed from the venue's previous manifestation. What has changed, is the interior design. Little Temple Bar used to feature southeast Asian decor, but now looks like what can only be described as an aged, speakeasy Los Angeles Noir.

East siders are already pretty excited about The Virgil. Here's a quote from Katie B. from Yelp, just to get you geared up for a visit:
"I'm hot for The Virgil. I happened to swing by last night (Tuesday) and finding my boy Kenny behind the bar was a lovely surprise (you can usually find him at La Descarga)! The place has clearly turned a new leaf with its half lounge that features a crafted cocktail menu, half music venue vibe. The lounge area offers up some seating in a "let's retire to the study" type room revival reminiscent of a time when guests got all gussied up for a social outing, while the music venue area includes a stage for live performances or DJs."
